Beatiful door salvaged from the ruins of a building on Glisteri

By Sofia, Nov 5 2018 07:14PM

Some of you who follow my blogs may possibly recognise this beautiful door. The design and crafting of its metal grid drew my attention and inspired me in the design of a metal room divider, which was subsequently installed in my quarters of 39steps.

Taking a closer look at the woodwork of the door itself I noted that although the door had been left in a deserted building on a beach, in extreme weather conditions, for some years, its salvage and restoration was still possible.

I checked about the ownership of the item and was given go ahead. With the help of traditional skilled Skopeliti craftsmen, this is the final result.

The door now stands in a deserving spot, at the entrance of my apartment at 39steps. This enhances my kitchen dining room and matches the beautiful screen to which it gave inspiration.
